Vegan Memories!

They say that foods that you can connect with memories from your childhood are considered "comfort foods" they make you think of better times and family ties, and they taste pretty darn good too. I've been searching for one such "comfort food" for many years. I remember being very young, 4 or 5 years old, at my relative's house for Christmas and there was a bowl of foil-wrapped chocolates on the coffee table. Bright red and green wrapped chocolate bells with a hint of peppermint. I know if I were to find them now they would most likely not be vegan, but I catch myself looking for them anyway, as if seeing them would remind me of that Christmas so many years ago. Today I was grocery shopping and found a treasure at Trader Joe's...the Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Mint UFO's. Chocolate mint candies that with the very first bite, took me right back to that Christmas with the chocolate mint Christmas bell candies! These may not be shaped like bells, but the flavor is dead on. Not only are they delicious comfort food, but they are also VEGAN! An amazing combination that still has me reeling. If you live near a Trader Joe's pick up a bag and try them!

Comment with your favorite holiday comfort food memory!

Black Friday Giveaway Winner!

I used a random selector program to pick the winner of this month's Black Friday Giveaway contest! Each contestant had their name added to the list for each entry submitted (for example, if you had 4 entries: Jane1, Jane2, Jane3, Jane4 were entered into the selector). The turn out for this giveaway wasn't as big as our first, but hopefully the next giveaway will have a bigger turnout!

And the winner is....

AStarrA

Thanks to everyone who participated in the giveaway, if you weren't lucky enough to win this prize don't fret because there will be plenty more giveaways!

I can't wait to try a few of these recipes...

Thanks again everyone!

SabotenCon 2009 Pictures *FINALLY*!

Out of all of the shows I've ever sold my goods at before, SabotenCon was by far the most successful. Now I have the convention bug and can't wait to do more! The experience was stressful, exciting, nerve racking, fun and inspirational. I've learned a lot from this experience and have lots more ideas moving forward with Gothcupcake and future conventions!

Konichiwa

SabotenCon has officially ended and after being MIA in Japanland for the last 3 days I am back and ready to knock your coffins off! SabotenCon was my first time selling at a convention of that size before, and it was an amazing experience. Our boothmates were pretty cool, the costumes and cosplay were amazing and there were so many talented people in the Artists Alley! I have a *TON* of pictures on my camera to upload and sift through, but pictures are coming soon!

HUGE thanks to the lovely Mary O. of Black Kitten Accessories who helped Friday and Saturday, as well as provided transportation, fed me, laughed with me, froze with me under the darn air conditioning vent and made the experience that much more fun and memorable! Also HUGE thanks to Scott of Tharn Photography who helped me today, as well as wore the cheesy Vampire t-shirt I bought him, provided transportation, fed me, laughed with me, photographed me, froze with me and made the experience that much more fun and memorable as well! Thanks to Mary and Scott for being eye candy too! ;P I love you guys.

The apartment looks like an absolute disaster and I will most likely spend the next few days cleaning it up, but it was worth it. Now I'm planning on SabotenCon 2010 and maybe a few others...

I will try to post pictures, etc. soon!
